About ITZY
JYP Entertainment’s 5-member girl group ITZY officially debuted on February 12, 2019 with the release of their single album It’z Different, which includes the extremely well-received title track “Dalla Dalla”. ITZY scored one of the biggest Billboard debuts for a new K-pop act, with “Dalla Dalla” entering at No. 3 and peaking at No. 2 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, and debuting as the second most popular song on YouTube -- warranting them the rightful title of “monster rookies”. The visually explosive music video for “Dalla Dalla” surpassed a whopping 17.1M views within just 24 hours of its release, breaking the record for the most viewed K-pop debut music video within 24 hours, and then went on to break the record for the fastest K-pop debut music video to reach 100M views. The girls continued their record-breaking streak by becoming the fastest girl group to achieve their first music show win when they won first place with “Dalla Dalla” on M Countdown on February 21, 2019.
According to Billboard, ITZY premiered at No. 34 on the Emerging Artists chart after the release of their second single “Icy” and first album It’z Icy, and had previously peaked at No. 19 on the Social 50 chart. “Icy” peaked at No. 7 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, and the music video has racked up over 108M views to date since its late July release.
The female quintet’s name exudes a powerful confidence, meaning, “We have everything you want, right?” ITZY references the Korean phrase “있지", which translates as “to have”, “have/got it”, or “there is”. The name holds a significant purpose as it conveys the idea that the 5-member ensemble has everything that fans could hope for in a group.
