Justin Maki

Justin Maki is a “Flirtatious Jazz-Pop” artist out of London, CAN. Justin is also the FCLMA’s 2021 “Pop Artist of the Year” and Top 8 in The Shot Canada. Japan born and Canada bred, Justin’s music carefully draws influence from R&B, Soul, Funk, and Jazz and packages it in an accessible Pop format: imagine blending Allen Stone, John Mayer, Bruno Mars, and Robin Thicke. He hopes that his music facilitates a joyful escape for all who choose to listen.

Justin has been actively performing for the last 16 years, slowly finding his voice and widening his reach and impact. After living in Japan until the age of 11, Justin moved to St. Thomas, ON with his family and enrolled in a rock school called Studio Arts. Since then, he has carved out his own path and played over 1,000 shows; toured across Canada 2.5 times (spanning Regina to Moncton); opened for industry heavy-weights such as The Sheepdogs, The Mudmen, Neon Dreams, and Monster Truck; and won Western University’s Battle of the Bands in 2015, as well as Western Voice in 2016.

Justin has received praise for everything from his expansive voice, to his playful lyrics, skillful guitar work, and intricate arrangements. Critics have often commented on his “impressive vocal range”, “dreamy falsetto” and the strength of his voice overall. Others have characterized his music as “stellar”, “velvety”, “sultry”, “provocative”, and “instantly infectious”. Latest singles include “Different Kind of Love” and “Simplicity”. Justin will soon release a great majority of the remaining singles off of the anticipated album, “New Flame”.
