About Thrills & The Chase

Has it been two years already? I guess time really does fly as you get older. After kicking the door with a dirty, classy and sometimes surprisingly danceable debut EP, South American rockers THRILLS & THE CHASE are back for more; and it is this writer's pleasure to announce that things just got bigger and better. WOMEN, FIRE AND DANGEROUS THINGS is short, sweet and refreshing, like one the best cocktails you've ever had, whether amidst the pains of becoming an adult, or whether you’ve already seen enough years to contemplate where certain things have gone wrong. This particular band seems to be somewhere in between, putting out songs that go the distance to paint pictures of dysfunctional love and that never ending quest for validation against the backdrop of the dark corners of your favorite metropolis' nightlife - and it all comes wrapped up in a package of modern rock that hasn't forgotten its roots. The formula hasn't changed - though it's certainly matured - from the catchy guitar riffs and groovy percussion of "Kiss Me Dead" to the seemingly contemplative and ultimately brazen blues-like "Jesus Is A Woman", every song ends up sounding exhilarating. Things also take a turn for the theatrical in "Twilight" (not a song about vampires, according to them) and "When Liz Taylor Died", in which everything, including the metaphor-rich side of the lyrics, is kicked into high gear. This is a band who isn't afraid of trying to sound big. These songs will certainly move you, and given the overall short duration, WOMEN, FIRE AND DANGEROUS THINGS is bound to get you excited for whatever comes next. Wherever they're going, this EP is a step in the right direction. Oh, and I've heard that they sound just as good playing live. That's also something you don't want to miss. (James Finchester, January 2014) We make classy, dirty and thrilling rock & roll. Come hang out with us.
