Kate Vargas

Junkyard folk artist, Kate Vargas, is in a musical world all her own, her lyrics on par with Bob Dylan and her unforgettable voice with Janis Joplin. Vargas’ uniquely bold and gritty style has received praise from a variety of respected outlets including Billboard, NPR, Noisey, SPIN, and American Songwriter, the latter hailing her album, Rumpumpo, “this year’s most unconventionally intoxicating and intricate album."

Vargas’ songs are grounded in a darkly melodic, reverb-washed sonic palette of dream-pop, dusty folk and back porch blues, all carried by rough-hewn vocals and guitar playing. In equal measure, she channels a surprising array of artists, from Tom Waits and Fiona Apple to Lana Del Rey and K. Flay. Vargas has graced countless national and international stages from Arcata to Antwerp and shined at tastemaker festivals including Americanafest, Joshua Tree Music Festival, 30A Songwriters Fest, and NPR’s Mountain Stage.

Kate is currently touring with Eric McFadden in their collaboration, Sgt. Splendor.
