About Black Water County
Hailing from South West UK, and celebrating a decade making music together, award-winning folk punk outfit Black Water County have deviated over time, from the well-trodden path of teenage insolence (plus a lot of booze) to a vigilant state of introversion; hoping to gleam affinity through stories of the downtrodden and heartbroken. With a necessary touch of spirit and spirits.
In 2017 they independently released their debut album ‘Taking Chances’, embarking on their first UK tour, before signing with booking agency Midnight Mango the following year. The two subsequent years saw three national headline tours, gaining ever-increasing audiences and racking up sold out shows, including their debut headline at The Old Fire Station in Bournemouth, as well as a number of support slots across the UK, playing with genre-diverse bands.
In both 2016 and 2018, Black Water County won their place on Fireball’s ‘Fuelling the Fire Tour’ supporting Less Than Jake, Flogging Molly, The Bronx, The Skints and more. They subsequently featured in Kerrang!’s online coverage of the tour, received an endorsement from Fireball UK and also appeared on BBC radio stations with the single ‘Rise and Fall’.
‘Ultimately though, it was Black Water County who landed themselves a place on the stage with Flogging Molly.. The Emerald Isle-influenced six piece started the first moshpit of the evening and cemented themselves as the judges’ favourite’ – Kerrang Features
The bands’ sophomore album ‘Comedies and Tragedies’ (2020), again independently released, saw a second sold-out show at The Old Firestation in Bournemouth, but sadly just 3 days later the plug on the album tour was pulled when the global pandemic hit England.
“Sometimes there are gigs where you simply pinch yourself and say “I was there…”, and tonight was one of those.” - Ross, Ferrone, Rock Regeneration.
With venue doors finally re-opened the band emerged back into the live music world in March 2022, with an eagerly awaited, first ever headline show at the O2 Academy Bournemouth, a rare unsigned event for the historic venue. With the reprieve of the cancelled album tour in mind, the Spring of 2022 saw another sell out UK tour in addition to an even bigger Autumn 2022 UK tour announcement.
To date the bands’ UK festival appearances have included WOMAD, Boomtown Fair, Beautiful Days, Belladrum, Black Deer, Tunes in the Dunes, Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree, Teddy Rocks and Takedown Festival, along with hundreds of other festival appearances across the UK, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands and France.

With brand new music being released across the summer and studio album #3 releasing at the end of the year, 2023 is the year of evolution for the band; a new age of refined music direction and purpose. A time to embrace the promise of the next decade to come.
