Garlands

Garlands is a Newgaze / Dreampop band from Oakland California formed in 2013 by Bay Area musicians, Lisa Light of The Lovemakers and El Elle and Mikael Johnston of Mephisto Odyssey and Dresden & Johnston. Veering left of their collective pop and dance background, Garlands is an exploration of the liminal and subtle elements of sound and melody. Beach House, Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star may come to mind upon first taste, but there are many layers within. Two years in the making, the debut album features intricate poetries and plenty of velvet-covered hooks. Swedish mixer Hans Ollson Brookes completes the sonic palette with his faraway spacious touch.
