Claes Cem

From the start of his career, Danish folk pop singer/songwriter, Claes Cem has always set the bar high for his own artistry. Ambitious by nature, he began his exploration of music at the tender age of 8, teaching himself to play his mother’s guitar ambidextrously. His childhood was spent studying the crafts of Paul Simon, Sting, Billy Joel, and Dave Matthews, which influenced his singing and guitar playing greatly. Soon after, Cem discovered his talent of songwriting and began penning a collection of his joy, pain, and life lessons. Once he started sharing those stories with others, his love for live performance blossomed and he began touring with Scottish band “Injuns”. By 2008, he received the “Best Singer” accolade at Copenhagen’s famed Emergenza Contest. From then on, Cem turned his focus to building a grassroots following as an independent artist playing over 1,000 shows worldwide, gracing Germany, Scotland, Thailand, America, and his home, Denmark with his gift of song. Word of Cem’s skills traveled far and wide, attracting the attention of Grammy Award winning engineer/producer, Carlos Beyoda. They collaborated on an EP entitled ‘Rosie’, which garnered positive reviews across Denmark. That success led to other flourishing artistic partnerships with Jamie Slocum of Curb Records, multi platinum award winning producer/songwriter, Scott Mathews, and other celebrated musicians in the United States. Most recently, Cem's works have been featured on television shows such as ABC's "Extreme Makeover" and "The Bachelor". His previous two singles, "Rosie" and "40,000 Feet" have enjoyed success and received extensive airplay on Danish National Radio. Today, Cem is hard at work collaborating on his highly anticipated debut album, which will be released in America in early 2014. It will feature production by Scott Mathews, who has worked with the likes of The Beach Boys, Carlos Santana, Neil Young, Van Morrison, and many other legends.
