English below Die MIRROR MONKEYS sind eine 5-köpfige Punkrockband aus Marburg, Gießen und Frankfurt, die sich Ende 2011 zusammenschloss und für melodischen Punkrock/Streetpunk steht. Das Songwriting der Band hat sich schnell in Richtung melodischen, englischsprachigen Punkrocks entwickelt. Tanzbare Beats, melodische Gitarre und jede Menge Singalongs gehören zur Tagesordnung, ebenso wie Texte über Probleme, Kritik und Alltagssituationen, DIY und Feierei – alles auf einer grundlegend antifaschistischen Basis! Anfangs noch zu viert holten sich die Affen nach ca. einem Jahr mit Philipp eine zweite Gitarre zur Verstärkung des Sounds ins Boot. Gründungsmitglied Eddy verließ 2013 aus familiären Gründen die Leadgitarre der Band. Mit Stephan wurde allerdings schnellstens ein starker Ersatz gefunden, der das derzeitige Line-up komplettiert. Nach der ersten 3-Song-EP von 2012 stehen die MIRROR MONKEYS nun 2015 mit ihrer ersten Full-Length-LP in den Startlöchern. Auf der Platte präsentieren die Affen melodischen Streetpunk der alten Schule. Inhaltlich geht es nach eigenem Songtext um „society and government-fails, ‘bout individual matters and what makes our movement so much better.“ In den letzten Jahren durften sie sich die Bühne mit vielen großartigen Bands teilen, unter anderem mit REJECTED YOUTH, 999, RED ALERT, MODERN PETS, DULAC, STAGE BOTTLES, PESTPOCKEN, RASTA KNAST, FAHNENFLUCHT, OPEN FLAIR FESTIVAL (mit BAD RELIGION, NOFX, MAD CADDIES etc.), AUF BEWÄHRUNG, ALARMSIGNAL, LOADED und einige mehr Melodischer Punkrock mit Herz und Seele! English: MIRROR MONKEYS is a 5-piece Punkrockband from Marburg/Gießen/Frankfurt, Germany, founded in late 2011 and playing melodic Punkrock/Streetpunk. Soon after founding, the songwriting of the band quickly developped towards melodic punkrock with the lyrics sung in english. Beats to dance to, melodic lead-guitars and tons of sing-a-longs are part if the band’s repertoire, as well as lyrics facing everyday-problems, criticism on society, DIY-attitude and partying – everything based on a 100% antifascist attitude! Starting as 4 musicians, the boys took Philipp for the rhythm-guitar into the ensemble after being about one year as a band. Founding member Eddy left the band due to familiar reasons, but with Stephan on the lead-guitar the boys found a very strong replacement, completing the recent line-up. After their first 3-song EP recorded in 2012, the MIRROR MONKEYS are now presenting their first full-length LP, featuring 13 Songs of old-school melodic streetpunk. Citing themselves, the boys „have something to say about society and government-fails, about individual matters, and what makes our movement so much better.“ Over the last years, the band hat the chance to share a stage with tons of great bands, such as REJECTED YOUTH, 999, RED ALERT, MODERN PETS, DULAC, STAGE BOTTLES, PESTPOCKEN, RASTA KNAST, FAHNENFLUCHT, OPEN FLAIR FESTIVAL (mit BAD RELIGION, NOFX, MAD CADDIES etc.), AUF BEWÄHRUNG, ALARMSIGNAL, LOADED and lots more.
