About Monstrosity

Monstrosity is a floridian death metal band from the USA. The band formed in 1990 by Lee Harrison (drummer).

One of the first innovative bands to arise from the Tampa-Death-Metal scene. George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher's performed vocal duties in this band before joining Cannibal Corpse. Monstrosity blend an extreme sense of dissonant technicality with aggressive riffing and vocals that paint images of imminent doom. The band has had members from Cynic, Death, Malevolent Creation and Morbid Angel.

Their debut "Imperial Doom" came in 1992 on Nuclear Blast and set the pace of the already rapid aggressive vocals and technical guitars flowing through the songs. These received very good reviews at the time and the band drove up for another release.

The band second release, was more experimental than their first and brings the music technicality down a notch but it still proves to be one fine album. The album "Millennium" was released eventually in 1996 on Conquest Music.

However, the band fell again with line up changes and a different take on the musical exception taking their next album "In Dark Purity" to the same as the debut's direction. With heavy, catchy, aggressive riffing and hard growls to finish off the intense album.

In May of 2001, they were back offering a double dose of mayhem with a double CD entitled "Enslaving the Masses". Disc one has an array of songs remixed and remastered from their previous albums. Disc two is a monumental Live album. The release was followed by an 80 date tour in the US.and Canada. The album was released in 2001 on Hammerheart Records.

The band then released their epic "Rise to Power" album in 2003. Making fantastic reviews for the flowing technicality and diversity of the album. The band later did a world tour to promote via Conquest Music.

There was quiet from the Monstrosity camp for awhile, until news of a split with Relapse Records bringing together Rottrevore, Repulsion, Incantation and Monstrosity for this singles split album released in June 2004.

Recently the band has released another album called "Spiritual Apocalypse" after a long wait in 2007 on Metal Blade
