About Color Chemistry
Color Chemistry is a synth metal band from Houston, TX, formed in 2012 by guitarist/vocalist Garrett Turney. The early days of the group were rooted in progressive influences like Rush and Metallica, which were showcased on their prog-metal effort "The Other Side" EP in 2016 and the 2018 garage-influenced "Cover Chemistry, Vol.1," a brief homage to their foundation of influences. With the addition of synthesizer player Robert Hitchcock along the way, Color Chemistry's evolution then evolved from its earlier progressive roots toward a sound that incorporates the attitude of influencers like Korn, Linkin Park, and retro video game soundtracks.
On July 26, 2019, the band released their debut full-length album “A Light Above” to warm critical acclaim, ranking #1 on AltPress AP&R List and placement in Loudwire's Weekly Wire. The single “The Great Nothing” was especially popular, being featured on exclusive Spotify playlists, and their first track to surpass 1,000 streams. Says AltPress, “this progressive composition is a breath of fresh air. Not to mention it blends anthemic hard rock with neon-bright synths and heavy guitar riffs.”
Catch Color Chemistry's “A Light Above Tour” in 2019 and experience what Houston Music News calls a "tight and hot," and a "must see band."
“'A Light Above' hits fast and hard with many influences and styles...but with cohesive songwriting have managed to make a rather creative and original record.” -First Angel Media
