About Dominique Young Unique

Dominique Young Unique has no intention of blending in. True to her name, the Tampa Bay rapper has a style and sound of her own: rapid-fire rhymes delivered with attitude over up-tempo, ground-shaking club beats made to get you moving. Her ability to flow between EDM, hip-hop, club beats and pop, and her fascination for music keeps her chasing the right sounds for her art, never allowing genre barriers to curtail her inspiration. Born Dominique Lashawn Clark and raised in one of Tampa’s roughest neighborhoods, the infamous Robles Park projects, she was precocious from the get-go and from that concrete grew a rose. Chameleon-like and always reaching for new horizons, she began to model when Kanye West hand-picked her to walk in Katie Eary’s London 2011 Fashion Show. Shortly after that she signed a recording contract in the U.K. and initiated collaborations with Mad Decent signed producer BRANKO and with A.N.D.Y., with whom she recorded “Pushing.” In 2012, she joined forces with DJ Fresh and performed on his hit “Earthquake” along with Diplo. In 2016, she decided to make a move stateside, bringing her versatile style back to the U.S., and was one of the first artists to sign with the newly formed record label The Hana Road Music Group. Dominique continues to showcase her frenetic musical aesthetic while inviting listeners into her personal tales. The electro-pop lead single “Karate” features Mandy Jiroux, the multitalented DJ, singer dancer, actor, choreographer most known for co-developing The Miley and Mandy Show with Miley Cyrus. Above all else, Dominique is ready for her next move forward. “Expect my real story, what I've been through, what it took to get me where I am and where I’m going” she says. “Expect the truth.” Karate OUT NOW: http://smarturl.it/DYUKarate
