About Tiberius

It’s 2014. Remember that? The last episode of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares aired, U2 forced their new album on anyone who had an iTunes account, and John Wicks’ dog met an untimely demise. More importantly, the birth of a miracle occurred. Up in Edinburgh, Scotland, Chris and Jahan pledged to push one another into becoming better guitarists, and Tiberius was formed. After tempting Chris’ then housemate Grant and college friend Ryan to join the band, the four met Nick at a house party and the collective was complete.

Fast forward, and the quintet are gearing up to release their second album Singing for Company, which sees them push their boundaries to provide a refreshing take on the progressive metal you might be more familiar with, while testing their own musical prowess along the way. Tiberius are known for their weird, wonderful takes on creativity, taking matters into their own hands by shooting their own music videos, booking their own shows, and remaining as self-sufficient as possible. This “DIY” aspect of the band means they’re approachable, collaborative, fun, yet efficient and professional to boot.

With prog as a musical genre evolving throughout Tiberius’ tenure, the collective are keen to move away from the “prog metal” label and the cork-sniffing stigma that often comes with it. With Singing for Company, this shift is more obvious than it was previously. Tiberius collate anthemic choruses with intricacy, intimacy, energy, and punchy riffs to produce a sound entirely their own; one that’s more aptly described as anthemic, contemporary metal with a tinge of pop. With a more accessible sound than ever, and a decade of experience behind them, the Scottish outfit look ahead to March 2025 and the release of Singing for Company, and hope you’ll join them for the next chapter in their exhilarating story, bagpipes and all.

Beginning their musical venture with a style which incorporated the rhythmic and melodic motifs typical of the djent and tech metal genres, the musical direction of Tiberius has evolved since their eponymous debut EP in 2015 to reflect the ambition and maturity of five individuals who seek to continually challenge themselves (and each other) writing music that they love, about topics of which they are passionate. Their sound development has culminated with the debut album, A Peaceful Annihilation released in June 2020, which has quickly garnered numerous positive reviews and solidified Tiberius as a prog metal mainstay. Tiberius have various festival bookings in 2022, including a return to UK Tech Fest and their debut at the rapidly growing RADAR festival.
