About Cheshire Grimm

Cheshire Grimm
Who are you?

Genre: “Gloom–dub”
Formulated in 2012 in the grungey-lurks of Hamilton (NZ), Cheshire Grimm took off on the local rock scene and have expanded their sound further around NZ and Australia each year. Fronting the Waikato Times ahead of their first EP release, and were also featured during NZ Music Month 2017 in the last ever printed issue of NZ Musician Magazine - this band is one of today’s leading acts hailing from the humble river city.
This “Gloom-dub” trio have taken their sound from grungey mosh pits into a new realm of dark dance grooves. CG have infiltrated the NZ festival circuit with NZ International Tattoo & Art Expo 2013 and 2016, “Ori 2016” at the University of Waikato, Luminate Festival 2017 and Sundaise 2017.
The Grimmsters have recently finished a seven-date trans-tasman dual-tour with Skinny Hobos, taking their catchy riffs to Sydney and Melbourne to celebrate the release of their second EP “Rain or Shine”. 2016 saw them open for the legendary Cherie Currie (The Runaways) on her world-wide tour, adding to their list of bills shared with Kora, Ladi6, MC Tali, Pitch Black, Devilskin, Bakers Eddy, Strangely Arousing, Knights of the Dub Table, Dual, and many more.
2017 marked the release of their much awaited second EP “Rain or Shine” - produced by Indie legend Ben King and recorded at Roundhead Studios – which has received glorious reviews. They’re gearing up to release the third single from the five-track album in November called “Slave To The Grind”, a funky-ska number to get your legs kicking about.
