About Kaldi and the Dancing Goats

We, Kaldi and the Dancing Goats, started jamming in lateish 2011- earlyish 2012. It started with Jarreth Seyssel and Joshua Jacobs jamming after work. Shane, aka Insomnia Boi, was with us for a little bit, but he had a mental breakdown and had to leave. We decided on the name, Kaldi and the Dancing Goats from an old Ethiopian folkloric story, and recorded our first EP, Waterloo for Wellington, with our first drummer, Brian Clements. Waterloo for Wellington has our first five songs, Thanks A Lot, Untitled, Perplexed, Paradise and I Saw Your Mom (Naked). After the recording and mixing process, and the departure of Brian Clements, it was back to just Jarreth and Josh, so we began exploring, experimenting with, and writing different folk, acoustic styles, and began playing shows. At our first show we met Alex Lee playing with his band Spastic Children. At our second show, we asked Alex to jam with us. One thing lead to another, and now Alex is a full fledged Goat. Around this time, we released our second EP of our acoustic material we recorded when we were drummerless. We're very proud of Frost Giants! You can listen to most of it on our Soundcloud: http://Soundcloud.com/KaldiandtheDancingGoats or you can get a free copy at any one of our shows! We played as a power trio for a while, but we needed another musician, and conveniently around this time, Shane became our biggest groupie, number one fan! So we extended to him the invitation to rejoin the goats. Shane agreed, came to a few practices, halfway learned a handful of songs, and then decided that it was too much work, and left the band again. A few weeks later, while doing our usual set at Judge Roy Beans on Sunday, Rafael came up and asked if he could perform a set on his balofon! It was one of the most awesome things we had seen at JRBs, and shortly after we began jamming with Rafael, who is also a percussionist, and now he is the fourth member of Kaldi and the Dancing Goats! Right now he mainly plays percussion on most of our songs, with songs on his balofon in the works! And we play as his backing band as Rafael and the Ngoma Band! So come check us out!
