About Sun Domingo

Sun Domingo is an American Alternative-progressive-rock band based out of Los Angeles, CA. Formed in 2004 by Edgel Groves Jr. (Guitar, Backing Vocals) the band has logged countless miles and more than 1,500 shows throughout the US, Canada and Europe and released 4 albums worldwide as an independent act. The World’s Alive (2008) was released by Racket Records and Just For Kicks Music in 2009 and met with enthusiastic critical and popular response. One of the albums tracks "Something Face" was subsequently featured on the popular game Rock Band and can still be played. It was in 2009 that Sun Domingo began it’s ongoing musical relationship with one of the band’s seminal influences, Marillion. Opening for the band at its biennial, International Marillion Weekend festival in Montreal, the recordings from the Friday and Saturday night sets were culled together and released in 2010 as Live at Marillion Weekend (Rock Ridge Music /Warner Music Group). In 2010, the band was asked to play the 10th anniversary Rock Boat Festival, featuring such acts as Sister Hazel, Marc Broussard, Stephen Kellogg and many more. Shorty after the festival the band was asked to tour with Edwin McCain across the United States to support the release of their new LIVE album. Following the successful Rock Boat appearance, Sun Domingo was asked to join popular UK band, The Pineapple Thief to do a 7 country tour across Europe in Fall 2010. The tour led to a larger swell in fanbase and landed them a record deal with the dutch record label, GlassVille Records. 2011 brought the release of the band’s second studio album Songs For End Times (GlassVille Records) featuring guest appearances by Steve “h” Hogarth (Marillion), Adrian Belew (King Crimson, David Bowie, Frank Zappa), John Wesley (Porcupine Tree) and Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief). With the addition of Kyle Corbett (Lead vocals, Guitar) and Dan Gordon (Bass, Backing Vocals, Keys) Sun Domingo has evolved to become one of the premier acts on the progressive and modern rock scenes in Europe, North America and beyond. 2011 and 2012 the band toured extensively across Europe and the US supporting Marillion and Saga. Also doing headlining shows in a short Europe tour called "Between the Sun and Moon" in which the band performed Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and their latest album Songs for End times, both in their entirety. The band is currently recording a new album due out Summer of 2014.
