About Scarr

Scarr has been living in Minnesota his whole life. He was born to an Iranian father and an American mother in 1996. At the age of nine he began listening to hip-hop. He first started listening to popular commercial hip-hop. Gradually grew a distaste for it after he discovered the underground hip-hop scene, but has since found what he believes to be a balance between the old-school and the new-school. The first underground artist Scarr began listening to was Immortal Technique. Immortal Technique’s music opened up Scarr’s eyes to the realities of the world around him.At the age of eleven, Scarr met a friend who got him started in creating his own hip-hop music. Almost every day during middle school, Scarr would participate in rap battles with his peers. He became recognized in school for his skills and was often challenged to freestyle battle rap with others. It was then that he earned the name “Scarr.” With the help of a teacher who made hip-hop music during his youth, Scarr performed for the first time in his life in eighth grade in front of his classmates. During that same year, he did a couple more performances and released his first couple of songs to the public. At the age of fifteen, Scarr earned his rights to a record deal under East Bloc Records through a talent casting call. He was the only one of roughly one-hundred contestants to qualify for a contract. Since then, he has split away from East Bloc Records and has been working alone, looking to achieve bigger dreams while putting on for South Minneapolis. During high school, Scarr released a demo, The Hannibal lecture. He is currently working on his next projects, including a solo project and EP produced by Mint, while studying McNally-Smith College of Music and has done various shows and events in and outside of high school and and College including open mics and opening acts. Scarr's next ventures include hosting, booking, and promoting events as well as mixing and mastering sessions. For booking and collaboration inquires, please email scarrhiphop@gmail.com
