About Black Mesa Preservation Society
On a fateful August day in 2011, a group of metalheads had an idea to start a band. Nothing serious, just for fun. When they got together for practice the first time, there was a weird kind of chemistry. Something about these misfits seemed to fit. And so BMPS was born. The premise was to combine gamer culture with asskicking and bone-splintering metal, or "Gamer-Metal", as the band dubbed it, but really is yet another variant of Death Metal. Jeff Spaans, Mike de Vries and Nick v/d Helm left the band amicably in July 2013, and Patrick Vos and Bas Kemp joined. Erwin changed from rhythm guitar to bass. Now the band is looking for a drummer. In March 2014, BMPS changed direction. Erwin, Bas and Patrick are starting up their own project, and BMPS will become a collaboration effort spearheaded by Emiel, with more frequent releases. In June 2014, Byron van Hoop (ex-Metatron) joined the band. Rico Snel (Chaosity) is substituting temporarily and helping out with creative efforts. BMPS gets it's influences from bands like Bolt Thrower, Obituary, Death, Exodus, Annihilator, In Flames, Arch Enemy and Emperor. BMPS plays a myriad of styles, and all of them with it's own twist. This is not your typical metal. BMPS is fast, hard, brutal and melodic. Prepare to be surprised. Black Mesa Preservation Society (or Black Mesa, for short) are a group of metalheads that are into gaming and metal. So why not combine both? The result is fast, brutal and varied, and guaranteed to surprise you
