Black Violin

Awesome concert, music was great, something for everyone, all ages, felt like family, love that they encourage the youth to find what speaks to their souls, and if it is a musical instrument to practice, practice, practice. HPt theater staff was excellent. The venue was beautiful. The stage was magical. Parking and access was easy. I would do it all over again!

It was FANTASTIC!!! Encouraging to young children, play what you want , be the best at it! There’s nothing one as a child can’t do. Full of energy and the love of music ! Once hear them, you will always want to hear them’ Love them

Simply put, Black Violin was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!! This is not the first time we've seen them, it won't be the last, and they never disappoint! This show was so much fun. The duo and their supporting musicians and dj are beyond talented. As long as Black Violin is touring, we will be catching their shows and participating in the VIP experience whenever it's available. If you've never seen Black Violin, you need to! They break barriers and stereotypes and present classical arts/music with lots of soul, funk, and hip hop. They are truly masters of their crafts, we appreciate them and everything they do.

They started on time. They were amazing as they displayed their talents on the Violin. The band on the drums and piano were fantastic. We enjoyed the DJ. They had great engagement with the audience. It was well worth the price for this one of a kind experience. They did not disappoint. And we had high seats in the balcony but it still was a great view. Strongly recommend you going with family to their concert.

If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. The performance was truly a mind blowing experience. They are so talented and my boyfriend and I loved the positive energy that they put into their performance !! Was the best money I have ever spent and I hope that they produce some new material and I am able to see them again in the Albany area !! Keep doing what you do guys , it’s amazing !!

The show was fantastic but when you brought Humble G on strange that was a magical moment. Let me explain. Bringing another fellow violinist on stage showed great brotherhood and no one outshined one another. You guys played and worked well together. Congratulations on another great performance. Excellence has no limits! Keep it up and thank you for providing my wife and I a wonderful experience!

This was an awesome concert. Black Violin was fantastic…so talented and fun to watch! Only gave it 4.5 stars because sound mixing was off…drums drowned out the violins and any singing. Abraham Alexander was a wonderful treat to start out the night. I immediately downloaded his new album.

Can't think of a better, more truly joyful concert that I've attended in... years? Decades? I don't know. Seeing this gorgeous, diverse crowd absolutely bouncing with happiness for VIOLINS, y'all! It was tremendous. This band is a must not miss and the opening act, Son Little - also my absolute new favorite and streaming both on Spotify nonstop now. This is what joyful music is. Don't miss this.

Oh my goodness, I can't even handle how amazing this show was! YouTube does not do them justice - their skills are unbelievable, and the way they merge two genres and sounds are incredible. Their energy, their message, their entire group - the DJ did his own rendition of Beethoven's 5th symphony - blew my mind! I highly recommend seeing them :)

These guys are AMAZING. I love them. However, the last time I saw them I feel like they show cased the violin more. They had drums, a Dj, and keyboards. All amazing but I really preferred the first show over this one. I feel they added too much and I couldn't enjoy the violins as much. I also took my 82 year old dad and it was definitely too much for him. But either way they are fantastic.

First of all gentlemen, thank you! Tremendous show. Drove 5 hours one way to see you. As an old (62) high school band player (bass clarinet), it was great seeing stereotype being broken. If you do come to Rockford, I hope it's possible to do a MasterClass at one of our predominately minority high schools to give your message of hope and dream holding. Maybe it will inspire them to achieve THEIR dreams.

My son and I throughly enjoyed the guys’ outstanding and amazing talents. I am super proud of these guys for breaking the stereotype and getting out the box. I like how they are leading by example and being great role models. The highlight was their former teacher who inspired them was actually in the audience! What an honor!

Amazing performance. Well, actually they made sure it was a party. Not a show. And this party had everything. Amazing classical symphonics, a fun DJ, raw solos, outstanding vocals, encouragement and motivation. By the end they had the entire concert hall dancing on thier feet. You’ll never see something quite like Black Violin.

The show was absolutely amazing!!! It was a surprise birthday gift for my young adults who would be away during their respective birthdays. They really liked the surprise, and really appreciated the gift. I loved how (Black Violin) interacted with the crowd. Most certainly Not a simple "sit and be entertained" concert. This showing was Sold Out and it was worth every $1 spent. The theme of the concert and message to the young, and young at heart, and ... dreamers is: "Be Willing To Think Outside The Box and one day people will pay to see [you]."

Probably the best concert I have ever been to. Classical crossover music is so underrated it’s criminal. The theater was PACKED and it was definitely well-deserved. Their show is amazing! They are innovative, dynamic, and unique. These talented gentlemen compliment each other so well. Violin, viola, keyboard, drums, DJ, with excellent vocals. The lights were also amazing. What more can you ask for? If they are coming to your town GO SEE THEM!!! It’s well worth the time and money spent.

Absolutely incredible show! I loved seeing a few of my elementary students attending with their parents. The family-friendly format was a welcome addition to an already amazing performance by high-level musicians and arrangers. These guys are treasured in my family and my school.

The performance by Black Violin was 5 star but some of the people attending the performance made it less enjoyable. We had very good seats in the orchestra section but the people who came in late and sat in front of us and next to us t(hey were together) were annoying. They were constantly talking on their cell phones and the man who sat in front of me was vaping with his girlfriend! Eventhough the performers encouraged dancing, it made it hard for the rest of us who remained seated to see. The ushers were very coopertive and helpful in helping us find other seats after we complained about the people around us. The Gaillard made it very clear that masks were required but there were many attendees who came in without masks and did not wear masks during the performance. Finally, in my opinion, drinks should not be allowed inside while a performance is going on. The atmosphere was more like being at a club rather than a concert. We traveled from Irmo, SC to enjoy the Black Violins and because of the things I have mention, the experience was less than enjoyable. I will not attend another Black Violin concert at the Gaillard.

Fantastic!!! Took my daughter and her 2 sons. Told my oldest son about the concert, he took his daughter who plays violin in U K orchestra. We all had a blast. Told my daughter in Ga to go see them when she gets a chance. Thanks to Lexington Opera House for having them. POPPI Clay and family

Amazing, brilliantly talented classically trained musicians who brings a modern art-form to the musica arena. Everyone matter the genre of music you prefer, there is a treat for you. Delve into hearing classical, rock, hip hop, R&B and beautiful original pieces. You should see them and especially take their children who already play music and inspires those that do not.
