Hovermode

Hovermode was a rock band formed in Tampa Bay in August 2011. The group consisted of lead vocalist Rachel Simmons, guitarist and backup vocalist Phil Cruz, bassist and keyboardist Taylor Benson, and drummer PJ Cruz. Brothers Phil and PJ had been playing together prior to Hovermode. Summer 2011, vocalist Rachel Simmons and bassist Lynne (Keegan) Conner joined the Cruz brothers to create 'Hovermode'. The band performed for the first time on October 15, 2011. Lynne left Hovermode Summer 2012. Taylor Benson joined the band shortly after as the keyboardist and first performed as a member of Hovermode on December 28th, 2012. Taylor later learned to play bass guitar and re-introduced bass to Hovermode's sound. The band practiced and performed together until October 2014. Hovermode disbanded February 7th, 2015. Where the members are now: - Lynne and friends founded a band called 'Obskurity.' The band is comprised of lead singer Teagan Byrnes, drummer Chase Cleaves, back-up vocalist and bass player Lynne (Keegan) Conner, back-up vocalist Kenneth Michaud, and lead/rhythm guitarist Brendan Rhea. - Phil and PJ founded the band, 'The Cruz Brothers' after composing the featured theme for TV series 'Surviving Sam.' Their first gig as a live performance band, however, was in June 2013. Taylor Benson (member as of July 2013) and rhythm guitarist Cory Jones (member as of March 2014) joined the band and they continue to perform together today. - Rachel no longer performs; she attends college in south Florida. Hovermode was a Tampa-area band that performed live covers (including songs by Led Zeppelin, The Foo Fighters, Jimi Hendrix, and more), & some originals.
