About Kill Her Smile

In life it is always important to be able to bounce back. The ability to get back on your feet and succeed no matter what the situation is, can define a person or in many cases, an entire group. This is also true in the music industry. This is especially true for the members of Kill Her Smile. Vocalist Jenny made a name for herself in the New York City metal scene for three years primarily screaming in the band Forever Her Nightmare. Consistently drawing big crowds and building a solid following, the band saw success locally and even overseas, being played on radio stations all over the globe. However, there was never that connection between members that is absolutely necessary to succeed. There needed to be change and the band dissipated after the revolving door of members just never created the right environment, despite playing with acts such as Eyes Set to Kill, Within the Ruins and The Acacia Strain. Without giving up on her goals, Jenny set her sights on building a solid foundation with bassist Susan, who had been on bass for the last stages of FHN. As far as looking for new members, the search for a drummer was not as hard as expected. Jenny had built a solid friendship with another veteran of the local scene, although the New Jersey scene. Patrick joined the band with little hesitation, bringing over ten years of experience playing large venues with national acts in various states and a wide taste of musical influences. The combination of Susan and Patrick’s styles would automatically make for a unique sound, but the lineup would not be complete until Jonathan entered the studio. It was evident in those first few sessions that this band would not have the traditional thrash or metalcore sound of former bands. Jonathan, Patrick and Susan each bring different elements to the table to create a unique atmospheric, yet aggressive form of alternative music. With each new song, the four members further connected both musically and on a personal level, allowing for a more comfortable setting than ever before. The band has written songs with no boundaries, allowing for metal elements to still be present, while each member contributes ideas stemming from their own influences. These influences range from jazz and latin music to post -hardcore and indie styles. This creates for an eclectic, aggressive yet melodic sound that is unique. Known for her brutal screams, Jenny is now allowed the opportunity to show that she is a more well rounded vocalist today than three years ago. She makes the most of this opportunity on each track, as her singing compliments the rest of the band’s dynamics perfectly. With the completed lineup, the band is currently working on an EP, already releasing three tracks, “Restless” “The Silver Lining,” and “Till Further Notice.” Kill Her Smile has recently performed together for the first time with this lineup, drawing a large crowd and successfully capturing the experience the listener gains from the recordings on the stage. After bouncing back, each respectively on their own and together in this band, Kill Her Smile plans to continue playing shows and building a strong following... They are currently working on releasing a full length EP and touring in 2014. We have new music to share! Check out "Restless" and "The Silver Lining" on our page and experience an eclectic mix of clean vocals and guitars, ambiance and brutality, and dynamic genre shifts that define our sound and musical interests as a band!!
