Kai Johnson - Drummer - 15 While his easygoing, chill personality may lead you to think his drumming would be simple, its anything but... Kai thrives in the complex. He has trained with many instructors but he has spent the most time with the talented master of many styles, Scott Shafer. Always the consummate percussionist he was accepted into the prestigious Hawaii Youth Symphony last fall to perform with Hawaii's top young musicians. Kai has performed at some of the familiar venues with various bands in Honolulu including the Hard Rock Cafe, Barefoot bar, Podium Raceway. He also was a regular on the Hope Chapel Kaneohe Friday Night Youth Worship Team. Kai is a freshmen this year at Castle High School. Kai's steady demeanor is a refection of his natural environment while his drumming mirrors his home, living literally on the edge. Dairen Hagenhoff – Vocalist & Bass - 14 Dairen has always been singing, drumming and playing instruments. As a toddler he would sing to his Mom and Dad's music in the back of the car. As a young boy he banged on his drums and at five took drum lessons. To this day Dairen a closet drummer is known to drum for hours at a time. He also plays guitar and can occasionally be heard playing acoustic duets with Iliahi. From the age of 7 through 13 he was a member of The Honolulu Boy Choir. While in the Boy Choir he took various instrument and vocal lessons from John Salvatera (Society of Seven). "Uncle John" taught him singing, guitar, keyboards, uke and notably bass. He was the former bassist of then pre-teen classic rock band Chaotic Five. He also plays cello at his school and will soon be with The Honolulu Youth Symphony. Proudly in 2014 he was chosen as the 2nd youngest musician accepted into the Pow Wow School of Music where he was again selected this past year. His friend Iliahi Robbs, who was the youngest member and him built a strong friendship and started The Bitten in June 2014. Dairen also plays soccer and practices tae kwan do, he is a freshman at Moanalua High School. Iliahi Robbs - Vocalist & Guitar - 13 Iliahi has been singing since the age of three years old. She started voice lessons at the age of four and has been singing ever since. At age 10, Iliahi attended a Rock Camp at Kailua Music School and discovered a love for rock and alternative music. She was invited to join Random Weirdos and jumped at the chance. They performed all around the island in such places as the Haleiwa Arts Festival, Anna O' Brians and Tsunami's. She continued with the band for 2 years before stepping away to concentrate on improving her voice. She was refereed to John Salvatera by Dairen and has been improving her vocal skills for the past year. He has helped her expand her vocal range and stabilize her voice at a rapid rate. At age 12, Iliahi auditioned and was accepted to the Pow Wow School of Music as their youngest member. Along with her good friend Dairen, they joined with musicians as passionate for music as they are. Iliahi is now finishing the 7th grade at King Intermediate School. Only playing guitar for less than a year she is now sole guitarist for The Bitten. She continues to find tune in her voice while writing music. She and her band-mates have become solid friends and continue to have hunger and passion for the music they play. This band of talented individuals often trade instruments during practice and push each other to strive and do their best. Together with Kai on drums, Dairen on bass & vocals and Iliahi on guitar & vocals The Bitten have not just quickly become a great alternative teen rock band, but truly great friends.
