Florence Republic

Florence Republic began in 2011, when a young drummer from Rochester MN moved to the Twin Cities and met a singer/songwriter who grew up in the inner city of St Paul MN. Brought together by a love of 90s alternative bands, they began writing together in an effort to chase the sound and nostalgic feel of the bands that they love. As the two put the band together with the hardest working musicians they could find. Their writing progressed and started to expand with the input of the group. It soon became apparent that Florence Republic’s sound could be much more than an echo of the past. Since that realization, the band has strived to push musical boundaries and never let themselves get hung up on trying to chase the same magic that made the last song great! Once the Set list was written, Florence Republic set out to perfect their live performance skills. Each member of the group was independently experienced in live performance from years of past performance with several different groups. But as a group, the band wanted to bring to the stage the most consistent and entertaining live performance they possibly could. Years spent rehearsing, performing and meeting creatively to create new material multiple nights a week have brought us to now. Now Florence Republic is a Dynamic live band with a mix of upbeat dance/jam music and hard hitting adrenalin pumping Alternative rock. Their debut studio EP (entitled “Afraid of Falling – EP”) was released online and on “Special Edition Cassette EP”s (with included digital download code) in 2014. The album serves as idea of where the band began musically, with indications of where the sound is heading. Since the release of the EP, Florence Republic has focused on writing new material and producing video content to showcase acoustic versions of previously unreleased songs in a “live in studio” environment.
