Umphrey's McGee

Awesome band! Fantastic venue and great drink selection. I’ve been going to BPB since it opened, and I have seen it evolve. In fact, my band has played on the current stage, in September 2024 (All The Right Heroes). Love the additions to the stage and outdoor space, it has a great backyard chill vibe, very unique. Couple crits too: the high end was not great on the piano sound specifically (not the synths and organs, but specifically when he was trying to sound more acoustic) and I noticed a similar thing with the guitar. It got screechy and caustic and not pleasant (not criticizing the player, I’m sure the tone had in his ear was different- just talking about outward audience sound). I was upfront pretty close and those big stacks on either side of the stage sounded a little tired. I heard some buzz and just not great clarity, sometimes with vocals also- maybe they weren’t carrying the load. Hate to say it, but I would put some of this on the sound guy- and I’ve noticed the board has moved to the side, not sure if you’re just trying to have better visibility, but it would make more sense to me to have someone farther back- in the center. I assume maybe you are looking to beef up your speaker array, might be a good idea. The lows sound great. My other criticism would be there’s not much airflow up by the stage, it was really hot. You have those big awesome fans, but they’re far away, I would recommend figuring out some way to get some air moving through of your outdoor space- especially where people are up dancing. You don’t want some drunk hippie passing out and getting hurt 🙃

Absolutely incredible show! Who can play a 3 1/2 hour set, bringing it on every song, with the same passion & energy? The unreal Umphrey’s McGee can! The VooDoo lounge in KC is an extremely nice venue as well, it was my first time and was very happy with the VooDoo lounge.

To be honest, I bought tickets without knowing much about the band except that they are a jam band. They blew me away. Normally, a show at the Surf is not really long. They played for 3 hours. The light show was amazing. The best I have ever seen. The band plays flawlessly the entire show. They made it look easy. At first, I was really enjoying the lead guitarist because he was great. It looked like he was doing all the work, but the more I watched the very calm and subtle play from the lead singer, I realized how wrong I was. The whole band was amazing. I can't wait to see them again. Go see them!!

UM was FANTASTIC!!! We loved the venue, awesome crowd/fans, fun light shows, some of the best merch I've seen for the band also, we had a ton of fun and will go see them again next time they're in our city/town. All members of the band are legit talented musicians and Jake transforms into Hendrix or Page during the jams lol, thank you so much Umphrey's McGee for the 5 star concert!! We enjoyed it!!! Please, return to Knoxville again in the future or at least Nashville, you got many fans and supporters here.

Even though drummer, Kris, is out for the rest of the tour, these guys still amaze! Fantastic guest drummers and guitar player sitting in (he is a machine!!). The venue was one of my favorites and I will be back for sure....If UM comes to your area, and you don't go see them, you are missing out!

2x2 on 4/22 - my birthday- way to rock in the ripe age of 38 - thanks umph for an amazing show as always. I popped a few umph cherries with my friends and they loved it. Great time yall !

I will be walking on sunshine for weeks after seeing these guys live. They elevated the whole crowd. Absolutely killed it. Umphrey’s McGee play with passion, fun, and spontaneity. Unreal and almost otherworldly talent. It’s a genuine treat and a half to see them!

Ridiculously amazing!! I knew that these guys were super killer musicians, and had heard some live stuff long ago, but didn't know much else. My mind got blown, easily one of the best shows I've ever been to and the freaking guitar player was destroying the world. These guys are not of this world.

Fantastic show as always. Was my third Umphrey's Red Rocks weekend, and never disappoints. Still best light setup in the business, makes for a very intense, insanely technical performance. Will be back next year for sure.

Best performance I’ve seen from these guys, Maybe Someday was incredible, as well as Seasons and Ringo. However, the sound guy was having a pretty bad night it seemed, completely lost the overhead mics in the mix

they played a mix of the just released album. would of been better to hear more cover songs off the Zonkey album. all in all, they jammed out every end of each song. the end was fantastic. I should of left more battery to capture the ending. that's always the best of any show
