About Delaney & Paris

Delaney and Paris have been writing and performing their brand of musical comedy around Portland since 2009. They've played a variety of venues around town from street corners to comedy clubs, the Portland Gay Pride Festival (2011, 2012), Fire in the Canyon (Horning's Hideout 2011) and even the Portland Music Awards (PMAs 2012). Due to the graphic and explicit nature of their lyrics they tend to be received best by the late-night crowd and at bars and burlesque shows. Just your typical girls next door, D & P met during a group vocal class at PCC in 2009. They began writing music together for fun and it slowly evolved into the raunchy, vulgar, ridiculous folk music it is now. Through their art they quickly became good friends, or as they would say, soul-mates. The duo is about to launch their first album "Cute But Not Nice," and is making plans to tour in 2013 and 2014. The album features thirteen tracks of original songs written and performed by Delaney & Paris, it was recorded at AudioCinema in Portland, Oregon and mastered by One Hour Pharmacy (1HRx). D & P independently produced the album with the help of a fundraiser on IndieGoGo.com and are grateful to all of their benefactors and team members who helped make it possible. 2011-2012 they were producing a monthly comedy show at Tiger Bar where they hosted a night of debauchery with short sketches separated by burlesque featuring rotating performers and top off the night with a different musical guest. "Keep an ear out for Delaney and Paris—they might just knock your socks off. With song titles like “Hipster Douchebag,” “Stop Staring at my Tits” and “Herpes,” the female duo is rocking the acoustic scene. Think of them as Jewel with five shots of liquid anger, or a version of the Indigo Girls if they had starred in Kill Bill, or Ani DiFranco if she were raised by Marilyn Manson." - Wayne Bund, Just Out Magazine, Pride 2011 "Taking things a step further than established musical comedy contemporaries like Tenacious D or Steven Lynch, Delaney and Paris opt for subtlety of presentation instead of abrasiveness or shock when performing their acoustic porn anthems... It's not that Delaney and Paris are moral advocates (on the contrary, they are basically over-sexed men trapped in attractive female bodies), but rather that they embrace the idea of not taking oneself too seriously, and from that draw upon their own life experiences without shitting all over the rest of the world. Herein lies the true value of what may appear to be just another novelty musical act. Delaney and Paris achieve what very few artists (in any genre) accomplish: expressing, openly and honestly, their artistry without gravitating to the lowest common denominator or the substatially bland end of the creative spectrum. Able to be offensive without offending, the pair is not only a refreshing change from the tries-too-hard vs. appeals-to-everyone arena that characterizes the music industry (local or otherwise), but they are also extremely talented vocalists." - Statutory Ray, Exotic Magazine, December 2010 http://www.delaneyandparis.com
