About Chiara Minaldi
Born and raised in Sicily, Chiara Minaldi learned to play the piano and sing at an early age.
At the age of 18 she attended classes at a school of Jazz where she improved her style and technique.
She performed throughout Italy and won several awards, performed as a guest star at “Euro Bass Day 2010” where she sang with international artists such as Bobby Vega; she also received the Piacenza Jazz 2011 Voice and Performance Special Mention and was awarded the Best Female Singer prize at “Lucca Donna Jazz 2011”.
She duetted with Rossana Casale, Fabio Concato, Pippo Matino, performed as the opening act for Teresa Salgueiro, Mario Venuti, Antonella Ruggero, and was the only artist who won two prizes at Premio Bianca D'Aponte, 12th Edition, for female singers-songwriters. In 2015 she won the “ Venere del Mediterraneo” award in Ortigia (Syracuse) and took part in both the album and live projects of the big Made in Sicily jazz orchestra; furthermore she was invited to the International Jazz Day in Syracuse in 2016 and 2018.
In collaboration with the best Sicilian jazz and pop musicians and together with jazz pianist and arranger Mauro Schiavone, Minaldi recorded her first album called “Intimate”, an intimate sweet-sounding work which is also an inner journey full of shades and jazz suggestions pervading the arrangements of the cult pop tracks contained in the album as well as the four new songs composed by the vocalist herself and the contrabassist.
The album tracklist contains, among others, pop songs covers such as Joni Mitchell’s River, which was also released as he first single, Teardrop by Massive Attack, The Beatles’ Blackbird, Until by Sting, All I need, Air’s songs of the ‘ 90s as well as James Taylor’s On the 4th of July. All the songs have been revisited and reinterpreted by Mauro Schiavone and Chiara Minaldi’s elegant captivating voice in a more intimate key.
In September 2014 Minaldi signed a recording contract with RNC Music, a label that collaborates with international Majors, and peaked at number one on the South Korean pop/jazz music chart.
The record is currently being digitally distributed in Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan (where it has been physically distributed as well), Russia, Romania and Greece.
In February 2015 the compilation “Lounge Vol. 7 2015” , which contains the new song written by Chiara Minaldi Un evidente stato d’animo, was released in Turkey. In April, a compilation containing the cover of Teardrop by Massive Attack as track no.6 was released in Spain. In September 2015 “Lounge Factory Vol. 1/2 The Supreme Collection”, which contains the new song I Try was released.
In October 2016 Minaldi won the Best Performance prize at Premio Bianca D'Aponte for female singers- songwriters in Aversa as well as a recording contract with “Suoni dall’Italia”, a label founded by the popular songwriter Mariella Nava.
Minaldi is busy releasing its second album.
