About Bronson

Groove Metal is a common genre to find in the Australian metal scene, with groups such as LYNCHMADA, NABERUS, SCAR THE SURFACE and a whole lot more. But one I should also mention is one of the most important metal bands in Melbourne known as BRONSON. The 5 piece Groove Metal act released their debut album in March early this year (2013) under the name ‘Blood Brothers’; an album for all metalheads from around the world to unite with each other to lose control.

BRONSON are a bunch of guys with a lot of heart in being saviours and inspiring others to be saviours as well. All tracks are strong with inspiration, musically and lyrically. And they have the power to give people the confidence that they lost or never had, to make them see that they are worth more and stronger than they think they are.

This album is all about being who you’re destined to be, not worrying about the ones who are bringing you down, becoming stronger to stand up for your rights, yourself and those around you, doing what you want whether people are gonna approve or get pissed off about it and being the most important thing in the world: yourself. These lyrical contents all come from frontman Jay Clair, who is a real demon on the mic and a strong warrior at heart. Guitarists G Max Horn and Simon Bailey have got deadset shredding capability and melodic riffs that you could compare to Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. The man behind the rumbles, Paul Stanway really gives a blast to the tracks and brings out some of the best bassing skills from the deep and dark regions of his 5 strings. The swinging and smashing, Shane Turville also leaves a good impression throughout the album, being one of many fine groove metal drummers in Melbourne. You won’t come across anyone like him, I guarantee it! You’re looking at a mix of CHIMAIRA with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SHADOWS FALL with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and hell, anything along the lines of GROOVE and METALCORE. You think you’re gonna find stuff similar to this, but believe me, you won’t. These guys are truly original. Having toured.. they’ve been becoming a local favourite within Victoria. You want groove? You want something hardcore? You want brutal? Well, it’s all right here! So hook yourself up with BRONSON’s ‘Blood Brothers’, and unite with your brothers in metal to lose control! Callum Doig (SF Media) People have said shit like: "Bronson music combines the groove of 90s metal with hardcore aggression... Weapons of Mass Destruction... could be described as Killswitch Engage meets Pantera. If your idea of good metal involves a swift, no nonsense smack in the face, then let Bronson show you what it's all about." Rob Brens, Heavy Music Mag "Second supports Bronson were great. One was unsure as to what to expect when the band of misfits took to the stage, but their mix of balls-out metal, teamed with driving riffs and hair-metal solos was entertaining to say the least. Frontman Jason Clair is a scary looking dude, albeit not without charm, and his efforts to rouse the crowd into some sort of activity was highly entertaining...Bronson’s sound is huge, and guitarist Gary lifts the mix somewhere above straight-out metal. There is no doubt, given a bit more support, that these guys could well be playing larger killer gigs in the not too distant future." Aaron Turner, Faster Louder "Bronson have the modern groove metal thing down to an absolute tee. Very solid musicianship, a big sound and the voice and charisma of enigmatic frontman Jay Clair make this Melbourne based five piece a real force to be reckoned with. These boys have some excellent onstage energy going on too. " - Rod Whitfield, Buzz Mag “BRONSON are nothing short of an aural arse-kick” – Jamyz Clements, Beat Magazine. "BRONSON’s new self titled EP is a fusion of the better aspects of the last decade. Modern metal fans will find it heavy, dynamic and memorable" – Simon Lukic, Triple R. "BRONSON’s debut E.P. is a well rounded effort, and one that clearly demonstrates the band’s ability to write solid, memorable tunes, without going over the top with unnecessary extras, or resorting to simply cloning similar acts within the modern metal/metallic hardcore scene" – Justin Donnelly, Freelance Music Journalist.
