Nai-Jah n'est pas une formation reggae comme les autres. Et pour cause, ils ont choisi de délaisser la basse pour la remplacer par le soubassophone, le cuivre phare des rues de New Orleans mais pour le moins rare dans le reggae. Le songwriting profond de Mahakwe, chanteur/guitariste du groupe, s'empare de thématiques fortes comme la corruption ou les conflits ethniques sévissant dans son pays d'origine, le Nigéria.

Le son atypique du groupe, teinté de jazz et de blues, modernise les liens entre reggae roots et musique traditionnelle nigériane avec un seul objectif: faire mouvoir les corps autant que secouer les neurones.

Nai-Jah is not a reggae band like others you might know of. Why is that? They have chosen to replace the electric bass with a Sousaphone, a traditional instrument found on Second lines in New Orleans Brass band parades. This gives Nai-Jah a unique sound with a touch of jazz and blues.

The profound songwriting of Mahakwe, lead singer and guitarist of the band, seizes conscious topics like the political struggle and corruption in his home country, Nigeria. Nai-Jah has one goal, to shake the body and mind.
