About Boy Wonders

Mixing noisy and dreamy dynamics with gentle twee melodies, Pittsburgh's Boy Wonders (Derek January - vocals/guitar, Joe Praksti - bass, Del Weinberg - drums) explore sonic textures that tap into their longtime love of 80s and 90s indie pop - ranging from subgenres such as post-punk, jangle pop, shoegaze and power pop.

"Happy Days Are Here Again sees January and Praksti squarely in the realm of their heroes: the rockabilly-inspired strumming of The Smith’s Johnny Marr, jangly harmonies of Brian Wilson, and layered pop tunes of Aztec Camera, whose 1983 song “The Boy Wonders” provided the inspiration for their name." -Matthew Monroy, Pittsburgh City Paper

For all the big Beatle nerds, the Johnny Marr worshippers, and the old heads whose craniums are still rattling from too many late nights spent with crashing cymbals, thumping bass and the effervescent heat of amplifiers driven to the point of shattering - call them what you will. There is no aping of age-old generational malaise, no diatribes on self-imposed angst wrought from this day's post-modern social constructs here. This is pure pop romanticism delivered with a desire to float above the clouds...
