About Subterranean Popular
Subterranean Popular play the kind of searing, grunge-tinged alt-rock that only redundantly kicking out at the world can create. Thankfully they've got 'fat riffs', tasty melodies and big choruses to make up for all that. These London-based greebo-grunge rockers have become frequent faces on the London toilet circuit, bringing their energetic, fuzz filled shows to many a pub and indie club around the capital. They've also picked up a number of nice little reviews from them angry young folks on t’internet for their (slightly hastily released) collection of songs, Nursery Rhymes (available on Spotify, iTunes, BandCamp and all those other digital dimensions). An ecclectic, and maybe kind of eccentric, bunch, these slightly spacey floatroverts are everything you would and wouldn't expect from a band,(and are surprisingly angry at what’s going on in the world when compared to their demeanour). Well, they have hair and like to flick that around... and sometimes they bleed. Not bad for punk rock, right? Hear them scream! http://open.spotify.com/album/2qrc6lGzqiR0mDuptQZR3V "Subterranean Popular have really given grunge and indie a brand new sound, and are really a band to look out for in the future. A brilliant unique sound to be enjoyed by everyone!" - Unsigned101 "Alternative style music seems to have lost its way in the mid-00's but Subterranean Popular are here to revitalise the scene with their perfect marriage of pop and grunge" - Goldie Loxx, BBC Introducing "For fans of The Pixies, Sonic Youth and to some extent Nirvana, these guys are putting their own spin on a decades old genre by throwing their own brand of indie rock into the mix. These guys are the perfect band for you if you miss that raw, edgey feel to a track that late 80's grunge brought." - Mind Noise Network "Oh man, I feel like I did the first time I heard Nirvana or Stone Temple Pilots! This has the same grungy wonderful vibe that those bands did. I even get just the faintest whiff of Violent Femmes!! The vocals are that awesome “I don’t care” style that all the great grunge/underground bands had." - MusicBank "IS IT ANY GOOD? Oh yes, they've got sunglasses, shouting, fat riffs, sneers, swagger and, more importantly, they can play, but try to hide it." - Unpeeled We be a London DIY Greebo-Grunge band. 'Ello! We play sickly-sweet-power-poppy-grungey-other-buzz-wordy rock squealed through a fuzz box. Yum.
