Why Rome Fell

Why Rome Fell, an original three piece alt. rock band from Birmingham, Alabama, is comprised of Justin Gannon (guitar/vocals), Dave Mattson (Bass/bg vocals) and Dan Baker (drums/bg vocals). Having played together for nearly 15 years in different projects, the group’s chemistry has given rise to a sound whose lyrics will instantly grab you and whose melodies will resonate in your soul. With a solid driving rhythm section and the powerful, yet soothing vocals of Justin Gannon, you’ll be able to hear the group’s influences, Coldplay, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Kings of Leon, and at the same time welcome a fresh approach to rock and roll. Dan, Dave and Justin all met in the spring of 1999 when they formed a local party band. The three later formed the band Adelayda with a local singer/songwriter. That group was eventually signed to an independent label and then later dissolved due to label disputes. After several years without contact, Dave, Dan and Justin reunited. In one of the songwriting sessions, the three discovered that something special had occurred. Dave had written lyrics and Justin sang them to a melody he had written and immediately the decision was made for the trio to pursue writing original music with Justin fronting the group, and thus, the birth of Why Rome Fell. Why Rome Fell is currently writing original material that will be released on the forthcoming debut album.
