About Monster Island

Monster Island is a bit of a misnomer. It is actually an archipelago formed by a series of constantly erupting volcanoes. It grew slowly over the course of many years and continues to evolve to this very day. Once upon a time there was a band called Say Yes. They were led by helmsman, guitarist, lyricist, vocalist, concierge and former Sockfull Of Pennies trumpeteer Ben Slease. His entourage included bass master C. Scott; lead guitarist Another Ben; and drummer Trey. When Another Ben (known affectionately as Roche) departed the band to pursue loftier goals, he left a void that could only be filled by a keyboard player. Luckily, Ben Slease found one in the kitchen of his office, foraging for nuts and berries. This jerk was and is Bear McCans (formerly of Thanks Mr. Brown, the Hardcore Extreme Sports Band, Water Closet and more.) So Bear joined the lineup and they played exactly one show before Trey left on a mission to ram electronica straight into ravers' brains. The hiatus began. During that hiatus Ben, C. Scott and Bear struggled to find a reason to live. They had no drummer and they kind of wanted a hot chick to sing. Then something magical happened... [paragraph omitted] And that's how they got where they are today. With the edition of the ravishing Cortney Osborn on vocals and Eric "The Human Metronome" Zimmerman on drums, they became something very much unlike their former incarnation, Say Yes. This rogue band of entertainers could be called only one thing: Monster Island. (Because that was the best thing they could come up with.) So we invite you to book a stay on the island. Enjoy our lush tropical jungles, white sandy beaches and our EPIC rocktitude. But please, do not venture beyond the electrified fences that surround the resort ... for there we cannot protect you from the dangers of ... MONSTER ISLAND!!! The band your mother warned you about.
