About Harp and Lyre

There is a mystery about music. A combination of notes and frequencies can move the spirit in unexplainable ways. It has no color or mass, yet it paints our world with vivid passion in shades and tones beyond sight. It can't be tasted nor does it give an aroma, yet it becomes sustenance to press on when we are too tired press on ourselves. It sways our mood. It influences cultures and fashions. It's a moving force that inspires and feeds our creativity. It gives rest and gives cause to fight. It requires from us a sense of commitment while it liberates us to be free men. It becomes our reality. It becomes our escape. It moves us to love and moves us to hate. It gives us individuality and helps us fit in among the rest. It takes the broken, the homeless, the diseased and gives them purpose. It affirms the one that know where he stands. It lies and it tells the truth. It exposes and it covers up. It directs and it confuses. It spills and it soaks up. It's community and it's desolate. It's simple yet communicates the complexity that we seek. It whispers and it shouts. It calls us out when we are wrong and it compels us to do right. It excites the courage to march into battle and in turn heals the wounds we receive there. It makes hell seem so close. It helps us find God. For nearly the last four years Harp & Lyre has been a voice in the movement of music, giving some a soundtrack to parallel their lives, all the while on a journey that holds no one specific definition or outcome. They call upon anyone who will listen to their melodies to not hold them in regard to the others that try to settle in but to look in light of where the melodies derive, not stopping for one demographic but growing and cultivating sound that agrees with and spawns from a reflection of honesty and urgency. That urgency has been stitch in the seam of their integrity, keeping them close to the reasons for their origin. They look not to make a name for themselves but to take part in the larger movement that has been at work years before their arrival, helping secure a community that spans more than just their dwellings in Oklahoma. Make a Joyful Noise.
