Palumbo and the Funk

Palumbo are a London-based rock collective formed in 2011 by songwriter, guitarist, frontman and Australian rocker Dion "Blindman Jumbo" Palumbo. This ensemble was born out of LCCM London , where Palumbo was inspired to add a horn section and 2 backing vocalists to his usual 4 piece rock extravaganza. (Previously : Wizard - Sydney 2000 - 2003 ; ThemBones - Liverpool / Manchester 2004 - 2010) Boasting a line-up from around the world PALUMBO have been regulars on the London scene. A high energy set incorporates big riffs, catchy hooks and memorable melodies to create a colourful and uplifting atmosphere. The live show takes the audience on an inspired journey through space and time. In 2012 whilst studying a music and production degree at LCCM, Palumbo self-produced the bands debut EP "Rock the Funk". In summer 2013 track "Try It Out" was noticed by BBC Introducing and spun on The Gary Crowley Show who described them as "a musical powerhouse". In 2014, “Rock the Funk” won best 'Jazz/Funk/Fusion’ EP in the US based Independent Music Awards. As well as regular rotation on various digital and broadcast radio outlets globally – including track “Get It Right” charting at number 1 for 6 weeks on http://www.fortheloveofmusic.info In 2017 Palumbo was invited for a 3 hour radio interview on the Australian Spectrum Music Show retracing a good proportion of his catalogue up until now.
