About John-Allison Weiss

Known for their gritty, melodic emotion-driven indie pop songs, John-Allison Weiss emerged at the end of the 2000s as an early crowdfunding hero with a strong D.I.Y. ethos that has defined them throughout their career. After establishing themselves among the punk underground, they took their music to three continents and shared the stage with everyone from Letters to Cleo to Lou Reed. They wrote songs with their heroes like Kevin Devine and Tegan Quin and released three albums on three different labels, all while quietly building a fanbase they describe as small but mighty. In 2020 weiss started Lower Key Music as an independent hub for their artistic endeavors that didn’t fit within the models of the mainstream music industry. In 2023 they released their 4th studio album (and first in eight years), The Long Way, through the queer artist-run label Get Better Records.
