John-Allison Weiss

Known for gritty, melodic, emotion-driven songwriting, John-Allison Weiss has spent over a decade forging their own path through the music industry and beyond. Emerging in the late 2000s as a crowdfunding pioneer with a strong D.I.Y. ethos, Weiss quickly became a mainstay in the punk and indie scenes—writing raw, anthemic songs that earned them a fiercely devoted underground following.

They’ve taken their music to three continents, shared the stage with legends like Lou Reed and Letters to Cleo, and collaborated with heroes including Kevin Devine and Tegan Quin. Along the way, they released three albums on three different labels and built a body of work that resonated deeply with anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider.

In 2020, Weiss founded Lower Key Music to serve as an independent home for their music and creative projects outside the constraints of the mainstream industry. That same off-the-grid spirit fuels their 2023 album The Long Way—a raw, reflective collection of songs about transformation and survival, released through the queer artist-run label Get Better Records.

Now performing under the evolving moniker Charlie Mtn., Weiss is entering a new chapter as an outlaw artist and road-seasoned storyteller. With songs written in deserts, forests, and roadside pull-offs across the country, Charlie Mtn. channels freedom, reinvention, and deep emotional truth—reminding us that the best roads are rarely the straightest ones.
