About Ava Suppelsa
At just 20 years old, Ava Suppelsa has had a career that rivals musicians twice her age. A country singer/songwriter from Evanston, Illinois, she captures a diverse sound between country and pop. Ava's influences draw from more than just the current country genre, fusing it with folk, pop and event hints of jazz. "I grew up in a house that put Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra in the same playlist," she says, which she attributes to her unique sound.
Despite her young age, Ava has already begun making a national name for herself, from Chicago to New England and now Nashville music scenes. She began to play and write her own music at the age of twelve and began performing it live shortly after. In 2013, Ava snagged a coveted spot in the second year of the Interlochen Arts Academy Singer/Songwriter program in Northern Michigan. Knowing that she was bound for a career in music at only 16, she packed up her life and moved to Michigan to study in this acclaimed program. A captivating performer, she has an extensive list of past shows, including Club Nokia in Los Angeles, Hard Rock Cafe Chicago and Boston, CMA Fest, the National Anthem for the Chicago Bulls and many more. She has also opened for popular indie singer/songwriter Andrew Belle, Grammy Nominee Hunter Hayes, and is set to open for Clay Cook of Zac Brown Band this coming year.
In 2014, she was selected as a Young Arts Finalist, a national arts competition- one of the 170 finalists chosen out of 11,000 applicants, and one of the 6 selected singer/songwriters. It was a honor for her to win and she got the chance to work alongside legendary artists such as Josh Groban, Chris Young and Desmond Child. She has since been given national and international songwriting recognition from the Great American Songwriting Contest, the International Songwriting Competition, Song of the Year Contest and many more.
Ava was accepted into the #1 commercial music college in the world, Berklee College of Music, and studied as a Songwriting and Music Business double major for two years. While a full time student in Boston, she also established herself as one of the premier New England country artists. Playing venues from Boston to Rhode Island, she became known as a go-to young performer and writer on the scene. She was named "Best Singer/Songwriter Under 21 in New England" as well as "Best Live Performance" from the PAVOH Music Awards in 2017. Ava released her debut self-titled EP in February of 2017, which received high praise from numerous publications and FM radio airplay from both of Boston's hit country stations, 101.7 The Bull and 102.5 WKLB as well as 95.9 WATD and college radio stations.
Knowing that it was time to take the next step in her career, Ava moved to Nashville at age 19 in 2017 to pursue music full time. She can be found playing many of the famous writers rounds in the city and continually writing new music.
