About Troubador

Even as a six-year-old girl banging out notes on the piano and writing songs about imaginary friends and swing-sets, it has been in singer/songwriter Erika Marie's blood to play music for anybody willing to listen. Eleven years later, she stood on a small stage with two friends. They had nothing but a keyboard, an electronic drumset, and an acoustic guitar. From the first note to leave her throat to the last resonating chord of their first set ever, the audience was utterly captivated by this new style of music. Enter: Troubador After a note was passed from Erika (Frontwoman) to Chris (Acoustic Guitar/vocals) in Algebra class, the band Troubador was formed and their growth has been rapid since that moment. Troubador has been a band for about two and a half years and has experienced many opportunities that most bands never get to experience, Including playing live on Radio 104.5 Philadelphia and opening for acts such as The Ataris, Maps and Atlases, and The Glorious Unseen. They have played shows in New York City as well as Philadelphia and all over South Jersey. Their mesmerizing live show and captivating vocals draw the crowd in and make every show great. (As crowd participation is often encouraged) Their many influences include bands like: Deas Vail, Lydia, Eisley, Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Sparklehorse, Sleeping at Last and Sigur Ros. Their universal sound draws love from fans that enjoy indie/experimental all the way to folk/country music. Journalist Jaquelin Voegltin writes for The Vineland Grapevine, "...I can't help but think that this next act will be something punk, screamo, metal. And then I hear Erika Ricchini, unknown to me at this point, and her band Troubador. Her voice pulls me in like a siren would, from the back of the place to the very front of the stage..." Troubador has also received guidance from a few who are no strangers to the industry. Boyd DuPree, manager of Eisley remarks "Strong lead vocals" and Dave Adams (who has worked with Steve Howe, the guitar player from the nationally known band 'YES') has recorded and produced Troubador, for free. Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge describes Erika's voice as "effortless" and the band's style as "unique." But why all this talk? Listen to the music. You'll be hooked. myspace.com/troubadormusic it's the music in you.
