Mamut

“I don’t know, I kind of think of it as taking Pink Floyd and ripping it apart by a woodchipper and then gluing it back together” says Julien Mortier when asked about the sound of his young and upcoming band from Leuven.

The foundations of Mamut were laid in early 2017 when guitar players Jonas Delabie and Julien Mortier decided to create a band based on a combination of free-flowing creativity and a ‘get shit done’ attitude. By the end of 2017 they had recruited Dylan Dujardin on bass and Spanish Don Juán Yuri Murillo Mange as lead vocalist and frontman. Right away, they noticed something had clicked when they worked on those first songs. But it wasn’t until January 2018 that the band really found its voice when hard-hitting drummer Kevin Gui joined the band. Together they blend their love for heavy in-your-face rock with highly ambient soundscapes and clever songwriting . Currently, they have set their sights on an upcoming EP-release and a string of shows all throughout Belgium to leave a definite mark on the Belgian music scene.
