About Parva Hinton

The origins of Parva Hinton go back to a band formed in Bristol, UK in 2010 by songwriters James Edward (guitar, vocals) and Richard Wigley (bass, vocals) as a channel for the songwriter partnership they had formed while studying Theatre at Dartington College of Arts. The pair moved to Bristol/Bath where they found a drummer, Jim and recruited James' old college friend David from Swindon on synthesisers. Initially as 4-piece synth-punk band they were called 'Our Fire'. However, shortly after forming, Richard left the band, taking drummer Jim, with him. The remaining founding member, James and David, took the opportunity to relocate to London, where James changed the name of the band to Parva Hinton - after a rural area near his and David's hometown of Swindon. With the absence of a drummer or bass player in the new line-up, the two made a distinct change that defined Parva Hinton. They decided to replace the Drums and Bass with programmed electronic drums, triggered synthesisers and samples, opening an entirely new trajectory for innovation and more importantly, vast amounts of distortion and energy. So, although still a punk band, the new sound was decidedly more electronic, but more importantly with the continued inclusion of electric guitar and James' raw vocals, the band had created a refreshing blend of electronic music and punk, with an entirely contemporary feel. The initial London years were spent experimenting with these sounds and framing them in different ways by exploring different genres from Dub to Post-Dubstep and from Electro House to Witch House, but all with James' infectious songwriting style and punk ethics. The, then, two piece played live shows regularly through London and the South East and made a name for themselves on the circuit with both electronic and punk scenes. Playing alongside You Love Her Coz She's Dead, Protege Reign, Okkvlt Katt, AlterRed, Deviant UK, Two Sick Monkeys, Sebastian Bartz, Feral Five, Bone Cult and Sebastian Melmoth and released three bootleg singles independently; 'Tourists', 'Freud Was A Coke Addict' and 'Type.Attack!'. This time was spent working on and perfected a unique sound. In 2014, James founded the label 'Future Punk Records' and the sister promotions company 'Future Punk Promotions' and started organising independent shows in South East London, most notably, Peckham and New Cross, developing and supporting both Parva Hinton and the growing scene around them. But in early 2015 after Future Punk's first all day festival 'FuturePunkFest 2015' Dave left the band and was replaced by Ilia - from Sebastian Melmoth on guitar, as James switched to synths - as well as lead vocals. In this period, the band produced and released their first 4-track EP called 'None_Shall_Haunt' on Future Punk Records. The release drew influences from the band's rich history and was received very warmly from fans and friends of the band as 'refreshingly new, anti-capitalist anthems' and the songs went on to become favourites at live shows. Parva Hinton is currently working on their first full-length album and plan to will re-emerge in later 2015 with a larger line-up and possibly a UK/EU tour. ┼ F U T U R E ┼ P U N K ┼ For bookings email: gigs@parvahinton.co.uk
