About Hope Springs

Originating from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Hope Springs have carved a niche as the region’s premier post-rock outfit with their with their unique full spectrum anthemic sound and powerful live performances. “The band dare to be different on the Coast scene…, no-one on the Sunshine Coast does noisy Post-Rock like these guys do.” (The Point, January 2015). The trio songs are noted for their atmospheric melodic sections interspersed with intense crescendos, laced with driving rhythms and sparse haunting vocals. Their latest EP Sooner or Later appealed to Doubtful Sounds for “…the band’s commitment to the intensity of the music, with each song they establish the tension and grip of the music, pulling it taut and drawing the listener into the turbulence.” The three-piece comprises founding member and main songwriter Tim Lee (guitar and vocals), joined by his brother Josh Lee on drums and Jay Govett on bass. Despite this minimalist line-up, the songs deliver both visceral and complex arrangements that traverse from lulling, plaintive murmurings to urgent and crunching guitar-driven aural assaults. A recent article on PensEyeView.com describes Hope Springs music as, “…a potent punch of indie rock with their “simplistic” band approach – only needing one guitar, one bass, and one drum kit to craft powerful tunes.” Hope Springs have earned a reputation for a cultivated and mesmerising stage presence honed from their appearances around South East Queensland (Big Pineapple and Golden Days festivals) and regular interstate outings. 2017 will See Hope Springs release there debut LP .
