About Iubaris

Iubaris was created in January 2008 by two guitarists Antares and Erthun. Drummer Hipnagog (previously known as Kabuka) and bass player Aquila joined soon, completing the band’s line up. This incarnation of Iubaris spawned primitive first wave black metal, mixed with a more modern sound, including vareous influences from other metal genres. After Aquila was replaced by Vulpus, the band released it’s first official demo in the beginning of 2009. In the year 2010 the band entered Sounds Great Promotion studio, recording the first 4 tracks that ended up on the Ars Sathanae debut EP. In February 2012 Erthun, one of the two original founding members of Iubaris decides to leave the band for personal reasons, and is replaced by Mjolnir. Soon after, the band records their second EP, Ars Sathanae II, which took the primitive roots of the band even further, getting rid of it’s predecessor’s sterile and modern production. The broad range of musical influences is more heard with this album. In January 2013 Iubaris release the Magnum Coeptum Satanicum album with polish label Black Death Production, a compilation CD of both their previous EP releases. Later after Mjolnir joined the band, discussions began about recording new material through DYI methods, rather than outside professional help, which led to building a fully independant private studio used by the band, for both rehearsing and track recording. During summer 2014 Iubaris launches it’s first highly succesful tour across Poland, promoting their full upcoming album. One gig at Olsztyn was interrupted by the police, because tha band played at extremely loud volume. After it’s release in October 2014, the album Code brought to light the effect of six intense years of the band’s evolution. Marking a substantial change in sound and style, the LP was classified as avantgarde black metal by the band and music journalists alike, with very high prasies and extremely positive reviews worldwide. In August 2015 Iubaris travels to Bergen in Norway to play a live show, recording material for their first live release, combined with cover songs, titled Live in Bergen/Dead in Sopot. The EP is released on February 2nd 2017. The band is also currently working on completely new material since 7 years of it’s conception, which is scheduled for release this year.
