Taylor Collins

'Taylor Collins' is an American Singer-Songwriter and 4-piece band that was formed in the summer of 2008 in Long Beach, CA. Collins grew up across the suburbs of Southern California and was influenced at a young age by old Soul and R&B records as well as the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash. Taylor began writing music at the age of 15 and recorded his first lo-fi demos in the confines of his bedroom. These early recordings were eclectic, encompassing a variety of genres, predominantly Folk, Rock, Blues, Alternative and Soul. Concerts at family gatherings progressed into intimate coffee house performances, until Taylor eventually crossed paths with multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer, Spencer Baldwin. Baldwin became his musical counterpart and collaborator in the Orange County Rock group, 'Wolf Like Me', where they established a unique creative and personal bond. Although the band was short-lived, their partnership proved to be the catalyst for their next musical endeavor. Along the road, Collins and Baldwin enlisted a rotation of musicians to accompany them live, until ultimately deciding on a newfound direction for the group. The culmination was the creation of a 5-song EP entitled "The Phoenix" released in the spring of 2012 that marked a turning point for the band. The record transcended the traditional "Singer-Songwriter" sound from previous releases and solidified a new 4-member lineup of musicians as the basis for the collective of 'Taylor Collins'.
