a Minor Bird

Growing up in Gaziantep, Turkey, Kevin Embleton saw a different world than his Ohioan bandmates; but his songs interweave their lives and stories in immersive fashion. After moving back to the States, Embleton released "Somewhere Far Away" in 2008. The solo album sold out all of its copies, but Embleton felt unfulfilled and alone. As fate would have it, Nate Netti (drums) saw Embleton perform at a downtown coffeeshop in Canton, OH and suggested they start a band. As Embleton and Netti grew to be friends, they realized they were enrolled at the same school: Malone University. Together they enlisted dorm mates John King (guitar) and Dave Judy(bass) to join the project. The name "A Minor Bird" was penned after months of writing sessions at King's rural church; it was derived from a Robert Frost poem which startlingly and beautifully depicted their collective view of music. Six meticulous months later, the new songs and their makers were debuted on Malone's campus to 200 fans and friends. A year after that on April 17, 2010 the group released "Where the River Breaks Free"; an EP which evolved into more of a mini-album with weaving interludes and extended production (due to fulltime credit loads at school and part-time jobs...a year and a half!). The EP was unveiled at a free release show at the historic Palace Theater in their hometown of Canton, OH to an impressive crowd of 500. A Minor Bird is now touring regionally and has performed with numerous national acts (Switchfoot, Dear and the Headlights, Deas Vail, mewithoutYou, Sherwood, Seabird, etc.) in cities like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Nashville and Cincinatti among others.
