About The WonderBeards

The sound perhaps best described as "hard folk" is created by this duo based out of Glens Falls, NY epitomized by their powerful vocals and hard-hitting drum sound. Formed by Chris Ristau (Vocals and Guitar) and Tom Miles (Drums, Percussion, Banjo, Ukulele, Uke Bass and Harmonica) in the Spring of 2012 the duo has been playing regular shows throughout the Northeast ever since. The WonderBeards released their very first album - We're Not Brothers - October 26th, an all-original 10-track CD full of grit, wit and the spicy substance found deep within their facial curls recorded in their hometown at the Glens Falls Music Academy. They were also recently featured in a full-length documentary about art in the Adirondacks aptly titled "Artirondacks," produced by the independent film company, Snarky Aardvark. Their record has been featured on Vermont's WEQX 102.7, WEXT 97.7 "The Exit", Hits 95.9 and college radio in upstate New York. The WonderBeards have performed all over the Northeast at venues ranging from small coffee shops (The Radio Bean in Vermont, Rockhill Bakehouse, Samantha's Cafe) to popular city bars (The Trash Bar in Brooklyn, The Alphabet Lounge in Manhattan, Hollow Bar & Kitchen in Albany, Olive's in Nyack) to large festivals (the Otis Mountain Get Down, LARAC). Always eager to play with an eclectic variety of bands they are continuously writing music, planning to take folk rocking to the highest of heights and the deepest of depths, experimenting with just how much sound two bearded men can make! The most hirsute of duos bringing a hard edge to folk rock.
