About Hornet

If it's not clear to you now, it's going to be: Hornet are a band that do things their way. With more attitude than most and fuelled by aggression, Hornet’s onslaught of heavy music is a razor-sharp mix of rock, metal and punk which creates a fresh, modern sound. Hornet have played over 250 live performances across the UK and Europe including multiple sold-out, headline shows at The Borderline, The Barfly, Upstairs at The Garage and The Intrepid Fox as well as supporting Kobra and the Lotus. Combining raw energy with a visual stage show, not many can match the intensity and unmerciful pace of Hornet’s live show. Amid blinding strobes and clouds of dry ice, confetti cannons explode and the band members dominate on raised platforms. Hornet self-released their debut EP ‘Down To The Bone’ and worked with producers Jason Wilson (Fightstar, You Me At Six) and Pedro Ferreira (The Darkness, Enter Shikari). Debut album ‘Skies Are Falling’ was released after a successful fan-funded Pledge Music campaign and saw three singles, ‘Skies Are Falling, ‘Storm The Gates’ and ‘Drive On’ released, all of which received airplay from Ian Camfield on XFM, Johnny Doom on Planet Rock, Tom Russell on his Friday Night Rock Show and TotalRock Radio as well as receiving reviews from Kerrang!, Big Cheese, Terrorizer, Powerplay, Fireworks, Devolution and Metal Hammer magazines. Hornet released their music video for brand new single, Cry Wolf in November. The song is taken from the band's new EP, which is tentatively due to be recorded early next year for a late 2015 release. __________________________________________________________ "Hornet plays riffs that make you want to ride a motorbike down a staircase. Riffs that make you want to pour whisky onto your cereal. Riffs that make Hornet a lot of fun." George Garner - Kerrang! Magazine "The music is excellent and the influences of classic rock and metal are obvious. 'Bite Down' and 'Storm The Gates' are the tracks to listen to." Ben Leese - Big Cheese Magazine "When focused on straight-ahead riff rock, these youngsters deliver, as on ‘Second Hand Smoke and the not-exactly subtle ‘Sweet Lips’." Adrien Begrand - Terrorizer Magazine "Skies Are Falling is solid, straight down the line headbutts on a Saturday night rock, perfect for a drunken thrash about. It shunts like a bastard, chiming perfectly with the rhythm of a hot diesel engine set to cruise control." Phil Kane - Powerplay Magazine "Skies Are Falling packs a punch of metal with a lighter twist. There’s an element of punk here too, which makes this band more modern and unique than some of their metal compatriots. ‘Under Pressure’ slides in a melodic chorus fittingly, illustrating Hornet’s writing talent and ‘Storm The Gates’ does well to harness this band’s various strands of sound. The element of serenity shows off a band confident in their sound as they rip into a more characteristic chorus." JJ Lee – Fireworks Magazine New single 'Cry Wolf' out now!
