About Edward Sayers

Over flowing with ambition and inventiveness Edward Sayers is an all Canadian singer/songwriter who creates innovative rock music. Blending folk, blues, country with rock and roll structure Edwards music is often compared to Neil Young and Jack White. Lyrically Edward tells compelling stores and finds a way to say what we are all thinking. Musically Edward is constantly creating songs that push his own boundaries and blend musical styles from all over the world.

Edward performs both solo and with his backing band which consists of Nic Prabaharan on drums and Hayden Crocker on bass. Starring deep into the eyes of the crowd while stomping his feet in time Edward’s live shows are simply described as intense. Performing original music since he was a child Edward feels most comfortable behind a microphone and in front of an audience. Edward has played all across Toronto strumming his way through venues like Sneeky Dee’s and Lee’s Palace just to name a few. No stranger to playing long shows, in 2014 Edward held a residency at The Corner House in Toronto’s east end where he performed 4 hours of original music weekly. In the summer of 2015 Edward embarked on his first tour of Canada’s east coast. The 12 date tour took Edward from Toronto to Halifax and major cities in between. Looking to see the rest of Canada and the world with music, Edward is always planning gigs in Toronto and Ontario but will let music take him anywhere.

In January of 2014 Edward Released his debut EP “Pax Romana”. The thoughtful lyrics of Pax Romana tell stories of life, death, love and hate such as the tune “Kathleen” which sings of a prostitutes misfortune. Edward’s lyrics leave room for everyone to put themselves in the shoes of the Characters. Musically the EP is Edward’s most folky work featuring a blistering banjo on “Tundra, Tundra” and gleaming organ on the title track “Pax Romana”. Nearly all instruments were played by Edward and all music was entirely Edward’s own.

Next was Edward’s 2015 single “Here Comes The Rain” which was written as a tribute to Edward’s farming father and showcases Sayers’s lyrical talent and his unique guitar style.

Not long after Edward released “Edward Sayers with Asmodeus” a 5 song energy packed rock EP which has you dancing, thinking and wanting more. Edward’s studio band Asmodeus consists on Ben Koby’s intricate bass playing and Nicholas Prabaharan clockwork drumming. The album speaks to the everyman in all off us with songs like “Student Debt”, but still finds time to make you bang your head with tunes like “Sex Panther”. Atmospheric songs like “Bird In A Cage” combine eerie rock sounds with introspective lyrics that can only be described as the work of Edward Sayers.

Seeing the world, connecting with people and writing music that has integrity and charm are Edward Sayers’s goals with his life. Always working, Edward has an infinite amount of material waiting to be heard.
