About Deep Ella
Founded by frontman Jeff Crowder, Deep Ella started as a small acoustic act that was driven to deliver an audience meaningful lyrics beautifully paired with clever melodies. After searching for the right instrumental arrangement, Deep Ella emerged as a full band with the musical strength to support the artistic vision of Crowder. With the added members and inspiration, the band released its first full album entitled "Last Year's New Thing" in 2002. Following this album, Deep Ella continued to cultivate its talent through local success, numerous shows, and a couple of EP's along the way. Line up changes once again shook the musical sound of this group for the better and lead the band into recording their second full-lenght album release "Empty Seas and Memories". Comprised of Jeff Crowder on lead vocal and guitar, David Garcia on drums, Carlos Fumero on lead guitar and vocals, and Jason Light on bass guitar, Deep Ella's latest effort encompasses the honesty and sincerity that seems to be rare in the landscape of today's
progressive and alternative rock. This new album, which was released in April 2007, features the groups signature sounds including memorable melodies, eloquent lyrics, driving guitar, and eclectic rhythms. At the end of April, the band was met with a hugely successful CD release show at Warehouse Live in Houston, Texas. "Empty Seas and Memories" became a hit amongst the band's rather large fan base and among its reviewers. Not resting on their laurels, Deep Ella decided to further cultivate their music by transforming their sound in order to further reflect the approachable musical complexity their group had created. In August of 2007, Deep Ella welcomed violinist Eric Rodriguez. With this new element paired with the original solid foundation, Deep Ella has evolved into a brilliant group that pushes the conventional boundaries of layers and textures in rock and roll music, all while still supporting the band's main focus of delivering the poignant lyrics and expressive melodies. In the past months, Deep Ella has shown off their artistic diversity by offering their fans numerous acoustic shows that exhibit the new audible landscape while transferring the new sound to bigger venues with booming attendance numbers. Upon hearing these new changes, many audiences have raved about the sheer artistic force that produces a musical experience unlike before. Local fans made their voices heard in fall of 2007 by voting and naming Deep Ella the "Best Rock/Pop Act in Houston" through the Houston Chronicle newspaper. Currently, the band continues to pack houses and is capturing these sounds in the recording studio, which will be released through an EP within the next few months. In between all of these changes has emerged a group that offers the musical world a new sound that focuses on the art of layers and textures. Deep Ella has become an impressive collection of sound with a message. This band strikes chords that harken those of past musical greats all while striving to make their unique mark on today's music. Deep Ella continues to be a paramount innovation in what audiences and music fans already love and crave to hear.
