About Prehab

Prehab began life in the 1990's playing as the Bedspins along Tempe Arizona's Mill Ave and touring the Southwest. For almost five years between 1993 and 1998, the band logged more than 500 live shows preforming energizing sets of mostly original songs. The Bedspins became a songwriting machine working under producer Andy Barrett of Gin Blossoms and Stevie Nicks fame. They almost never played the same set twice as they were always adding new songs, sometimes on a per-show basis. In the late 90's the group disbanded and had very little contact for almost a decade. In 2007 dramatic events pulled the former band-mates back together. After some reminiscing and several rounds of drinks a plan was hatched. The band would get back in the rehearsal room to assemble songs with the goal of landing a publishing deal. This initial plan ignited the recording of One Is Too Many (A Thousand Is Never Enough) Released by Aahshaw Records ( 2009 ) The record was well-received and reviewed locally landing the band live shows and drawing enthusiastic crowds. Soon the band was back rehearsing and writing new material. In the summer of 2012 the band hopped a plane to Memphis to record at Ardent Studios with John Hampton (White Stripes, The Replacements, Gin Blossoms) After additional recording and mixing Adam Ayan ( Nirvana, Foo Fighters, NIN, Keith Urban) mastered the record at Gateway sound. The result of everyone’s collective efforts is the new Aahshaw Records EP “I Haven’t Been Completely Honest” (2013) Shortly after completing the EP long time drummer Jeff Bourne left the group to explore other opportunities. After several weeks of auditions the band welcomed Phillip Rhodes (Gin Blossoms) to the fold. Phil brings years of experience as a platinum selling artist, performer, and songwriter to band as well as a sense of humor that is a perfect fit. Prehab’s music has been featured on PlayboyMexico.com, thebabespot.com, Almost Famous Film Festival and Dailymotion.com where the song “Freaky” has over 625,000 views. Prehab was selected out of several thousand bands to play CMJ in the fall of 2014. The band’s music was most recently used in fashion line Diego Milano’s winter 2014 / 2015 ad campaign. The band was also pleased to be included in Tempe History Museums “The Tempe Sound” exhibit which features Jason’s Guitar as well as lyrics and flyers from the Bedspins years. In late 2014 the band went to Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas to begin working with Producer Owen Morris (Oasis, The Verve, Madness) “ Light Up The Sky” was released in spring 2015. The band was interviewed by Beef Vegan on KWSS 93.9 in early April and the station is now playing the first single “Wrong Door” in rotation. The album was also added to Pandora and is being streamed worldwide. Many more singles will be released during 2015 with plans to one again team up again with Owen Morris to record the bands fourth record in the fall. The band has also been shooting video of shows, practices, pre-production, studio recording and everyday band life with plans to release a documentary in 2016. “Whether it is the single “Wrong Door” or the 90’s revivalism of “The Boy with the Matches” this band does not fail to impress at every Turn”- Java Magazine “There is a raw harmonic quality to Chris Kay’s vocal that comes across beautifully at every turn” – Mitchell Hillman “Marshall Crenshaw hooks with loud guitars and sad melodies” – Phoenix New Times "Highlights of the EP include “Last Time,” an aching reminder that it’s always been a thin line between the alternative-country scene and the tender side of the Replacements catalog" -Ed Masley Arizona Republic "The music is strong full of catchy riffs and powerful lyrics. This is not the bubble gum rock playing on main stream radio stations across the country; this is real rock and roll." - Mntweekly.com - Take one part Nirvana, one part Tom Petty, add a dash of 80's Cheese and you get Prehab. Please visit us on http://prehabmusic.com/music for free download
