About The Early Swerve
The Early Swerve's unique gangster-folk/nu-skiffle sound is an eclectic mix ranging from Skiffle, Latin Jazz, film soundtracks and 60’s British Invasion bands. The lyrics are darkly comic contemporary narratives, inspired by shady local characters and barstool fables. Live, they combine blistering vocal harmonies with a ragged skiffle punk aesthetic.
“They say they’re Gangster-Folk/Nu-Skiffle, I don’t know if that’s a recognised category at the Grammys but it should be!”
Mickey Bradley (Undertones, BBC Ulster)
“Vaguely eerie, darkly comical while making astute social commentary, The Early Swerve ooze a performative energy that makes them feel both accomplished and fresh…”
Caitlin Norris (Happy Mag)
“Great Lyrics, great melody, great everything!”
Kurtis Powers (The Face Radio)
“Folk twangs dance with cheeky London Underground. All I have to say is yes! This is what I’ve been looking for from modern British underground rock…”
Tamara Jenna (TJPL News Magazine)
“At once timeless yet offering something entirely new… The Early Swerve deliver a superb showcase of their songwriting talent, performance panache and thoroughly unique style.”
Damo Howard (Plastic Mag)
“Fans of a time where music felt a lot more raw and simple, relying on big personalities and personable appeal more so than slick production techniques and smoke and mirrors will find a lot to love here.”
Kieran Rodgers (Clout)
