Tight Rope Sky

Tight Rope Sky is an alternative band from the San Fernando Valley, CA. Arriving from diverse backgrounds (Berklee College of Music, Los Angeles Recording School, Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, Spain), the San Fernando Valley-based unit completed their line up in 2011 to establish the core of what is Tight Rope Sky. In early 2012 the group hit the studio to record their awaited debut album “Strange New World,” (released June 9th 2012). Mixed and mastered by the talented Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me/Devin Townsend) and Alec James Milewski, the album delivered a variety of songs that generated nostalgia with a refreshing sound while at the same time setting the platform in which to push and explore the boundaries and depths of their musical vision. Bursting onto the LA scene to promote their debut, Tight Rope Sky performed shows around their local indie circuits in the Silverlake, Los Angeles/Hollywood, and Fresno, CA areas. Releasing their independent post-apocalyptic DIY video for their single "The Silent Ocean," tracks off their record began to garner buzz and circulate the internet radios (progressive, post rock, and indie); online music bloggers praised the album's multifarious approach: "Unless you decide to hear it multiple times, like I did. Then you realize the sweet layered goodness...The album is like a good movie, you just keep getting more out of it with each listen." Fast forward to 2017, Michael Ward is the latest addition to the band (lead vocal/rhythm guitar). The group of four (featuring Daniel Fliegel/guitars, Ryan Fultz/drums, Richard Garay/bass) are set out to support their newly self-titled 2016 follow-up “Tight Rope Sky.” A wide-ranging track list pulling from the best of the progressive, post-rock, and indie genres; the band’s latest approach has evolved towards a forward thinking bold endeavor in their musical expression. Highlighted by the returning production credited to Jamie King and Alec James Milewski; songs such as ‘O’ My Virus’ and ‘Jericho’ deliver a catharsis of their loud aggressive sound while songs like “The Great Return” and “What You Leave Behind” showcase their softer melodic arrangements.
